It all started when Rude met Shawn and Nathan when he 
started at a new High school in 1994.

After the initial meeting, friendships were formed and common musical interests were found. They had already individually messing around with guitars to pass time for a couple of years. The boys started learning
their favorite tunes together  being influenced greatly by bands such as Tool, Pennywise, Korn, and The Tea  Party. Unknowingly it was then that the foundation of Redshift was formed. With  Rudy and Nathan on guitar, the search for a bass player began. A couple of people occupied the role of the bass player in the band beginning with Jess   Southurst, a locally well known musician and then Chris Morris, another old music colleague from High School.

After having problems finding another bass player, Nathan decided to fill the void and take on the roll himself. After a couple of months writing new music and rehearsals, Redshift acquired the services of John Sedgewick, a keen  lead guitarist who had previously performed live with the band appearing as a special guest to perform his original music.

It was then that the creative process began to exceed rapidly with John and Rudy combining to write a new brand of music that they were proud to call their own. The music itself reflecting the band's influences and variety, utilizing all styles from metal and grunge to funk, pop rock and ballads.

After a couple more months of rehearsal, redshift decided to take their sound to the people, playing a few shows throughout their hometown, Albury N.S.W. in 1999, promoting their music and trying to get any sort of attention. Then in 2000 they began to branch out and play to crowds throughout N.S.W and Victoria, making a mark with a few shows in Melbourne.

Going  into 2001 the band still stay consistent in their hometown playing main act showsor supporting bands passing through like "The Porkers" and "Klinger.Also the band thinks that this is the year to make a break on the national market with the independent release of their debut ep "Are You Affraid" which the band will begin recording at Sony Music Studios, Sydney in April.
